Buongiorno from Sicily! Palermo, Sicily to be precise. We flew to Rome from Cairo, slept over a night and then took an early morning flight on Ryanair from Rome to Palermo. After that we thought it would be a quick trip on the bus into Palermo but it ended up being longer than the plane trip because there was a lot of traffic. The more we are caught in traffic in all these cities around the world, the more we value the fact we are from a city of 20,000 people back home.
Eventually we reached Stazione Centrale, loaded on our backpacks and started the walk to our apartment. We are so happy to be back in an apartment after many weeks of hotels. The last apartment was way back in December in Cape Town. That seems an awfully long time ago. Apartments are so much easier for families - more space, a kitchen to cook in (so much cheaper), usually a washing machine etc.
The apartment we are staying in during our time in Palermo is special for all those reasons and more.
